Medical Physician Assistant

We are excited to welcome a compassionate Medical Physician Assistant to our team! In this position, you will provide thorough assessments and care to adults struggling with substance use disorders. The role involves evaluating potential patients for admission, determining the proper level of care, and addressing any immediate medical needs that can be managed in our residential, rehabilitation, or detox facilities.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Perform patient evaluations, including reviewing their medical history and conducting health assessments based on symptoms.
• Identify patient needs and offer a differential diagnosis using clinical observations, history, and findings.
• Carry out necessary diagnostic tests such as urine analysis, blood work, and glucose monitoring.
• Collaborate with the physician to design an actionable and mutually agreed-upon care plan.
• Implement the care plan with diagnostic testing, medications, non-pharmacological treatments, education, and appropriate referrals.
• Continuously monitor treatment effectiveness and modify care as needed to meet mental health objectives.
• Educate patients on their health, treatment options, and preventive measures.
• Create a secure and supportive environment, advocating for patient rights and well-being.
• Work closely with other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive medical care.
• Keep accurate, legible, and confidential patient records.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree.
• Valid New York State Physician Assistant (PA) license.
• Good standing as a registered PA.
• DEA license.
• Meets all NY Drug and Alcohol Program requirements for conducting assessments and prescribing medications.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Five years of related experience.

Skills:

• Computer literacy, especially with medical data systems.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Keen attention to detail and solid decision-making abilities.
